For example, Medicare will not cover the cost of individual psychotherapy sessions. Instead, Medicare will cover the cost of group therapy sessions. Additionally, Medicare will not cover the cost of psychiatric medication. However, they will cover the cost of psychotherapy and counseling services.

What About Mental Health Services for Treatment?

Medicare covers treatments that are for Mental health services. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule as well. For example, Medicare will not cover the cost of inpatient psychiatric care. Additionally, Medicare will not cover the cost of residential treatment facilities. However, they will cover the cost of outpatient mental health services.
